How are bandwith caps affecting you?

A lot of cable providers are rolling out bandwidth caps in the US. How is this affecting you (if you are a subscriber of a cable provider that employs such a mechanism?)

Though this is in the offtopic forum, I think this is going to become a very large issue in the coming years, especially for an application such as Boxee which depends on high bandwidth for its use. Bandwidth (currently) is quite limited, though even if that were not the case, I still see internet service providers continue to use it for profits.

Same thing in Canada. I just got hit with a bandwidth overage charge and was NEVER notified about a change in the provider's policy. Looking to switch to a TRUE unlimited bandwidth provider.

In Belgium boradband is expensive and everybody has a download/upload limit.

Weve had stuff like this in the UK for a long time now, just about every BB provider who offers so called unlimited internet has an undisclosed cap. If you go over the cap you'll generally get a slap on the wrist and eventually disconnected if you manage to really annoy them but they arent allowed to charge for going over a certain amount... not yet anyways

Regardless, during the peak evening hours, just about all providers restrict the line spead so in my case for example ive had a 3.5 meg line (400k download) reduced to .5 meg (60k download) which makes using stuff like iplayer a right pain.
