Hey Guys,

I love the software, just downloaded it this afternoon and have been playing ever since, seems really nice to use, and if I had a mac mini connected to my TV I would definately install it.

That said the linux version sounds interesting and should run on the box that I have connected to my tv.

Anyhow, I currently use mediaportal on windows, and for me the best feature is the ability for it to sync with thetvdb.com to get episode info for all of my recorded TV on my hard drive. All all of my ripped DVDs that I have saved to my computer.

At the moment I can't see the functionality, the parser seemed to parse all of my albums perfectly.

IF I could get Recorded TV functionality that uses thetvdb.com - you'd probably have me completely sold !!

Infact I'm sure something like this already exists for XBMC.....

hi 3guk,

thanks. great to hear you enjoy boxee.

recording from cables?? this is sooo last year... :)
we are saying - cut the cable. you have everything you need online! :)

now seriously - we already collect and show metadata on tv shows from thetvdb.com however record functionality is not yet implemented.

there is initial support (not exposed in ui) for using mythtv as a pvr backend (thanks elupus!) and team-xbmc is working on better integrating this functionality to their client so yes - we will support it eventually.

How odd,

I couldn't get boxee to show metadata from thetvdb.com even thought I added a folder full of sub folders of various TV shows, it didn't seem to do anything at all, just gave me a generic icon.

Is there some way that I have missed in order to add TV episodes. I record all of my shows on a dedicated box, this then gives them proper filenames and saves them to my server.

My media machine then looks at the folder on the server, and displays logos depending on the show, are you telling me boxee does this too ?? Have I just missed it ?

Cheers

well- all you need to do is add your folder as a source.
take a tour at settings->media sources -> add source.
mark this folder as video and boxee will start scanning it in background. it will take some time (depending on how big your collection is).

enjoy! :)
