Hi everybody,
I'm a proud owner of a boxee box. But I have a problem. I'm not very familiar with network and sharing etc ..
I've connected an external harddisk via usb to my boxeebox. I want to open files on that external disk with my iPad. Movies, pictures and music. I've read on the internet it's possible with the app Goodreader, which I have. But how? Or is there a better way?
Can somebody help me please and explain step by step?
Greetings from Belgium!

Hi,
I have Boxee for iPad installed on my iPad and Boxee Media Manager installed on a PC which the external USB drive is connected to.
The Boxee Box itself is not involved in sharing files for the iPad.
1. Remove the USB drive from the BB and plug it into a PC within your network.
2. Install Boxee Media Manager on that PC http://www.boxee.tv/download/media-manager-windows
3. Configure the folder you would like to share in Boxee Media Manager, it's nearby selfexplaining.
4. Install Boxee for iPad on your Pad, you'll find in iTunes Store.
Now you can start the app and it'll find your shared files.

You could map a Windows drive to the shared drive on the Boxee Box, then use Boxee Media Manager to scan and share files from that mapped drive. :D

To access the files from drives connected to your Boxee Box using your iPad, get Buzz Player from the App Store. Tap on the SMB/FTP icon at the bottom (fourth from the left) and tap on the + to add a new connection. Enter smb://<the IP address for your Boxee> and it should connect, showing you the names of the drives connected to the Boxee. It works really well for me, and I have tried a lot of different players on the iPad.

I have a big external hdd connected to my boxee box. On this hdd I store everything, my movies, music, photos.
I'd like to be able to use the boxee iPad app to access and play this music on my iPad or using AirPlay play it back via the boxee box to the tv.
Since I use this hdd to store all my content, I'd also like to be able to connect to it over the home network while it is connected to the boxee box from my MacBook as well.
How do I do both?

Does anyone use AV player HD on their Ipad to access the boxee box external HD? Its possible to connect to an FTP, however i wonder the settings should be set up to get it working, if it's possible at all?
