well.. let's get them dirty then.
media sources, including rss feeds are defined in a file aptly named sources.xml. this file resides under your user profile, which in your case, avneron, would be at:
~/Library/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/profiles/avneron/sources.xml
sources are categorized as video, music and pictures, and each source is contained in a <source> block under one or more of these categories.
a sample rss source would be defined as following, with the path leading to the rss you want to add:
<source>
<name>my cool rss</name>
<path>rss://my.cool.com/video.rss</path>
<thumbnail>Q:/media/defaultrss.png</thumbnail>
<private>false</private>
</source>
please note that not all rss feeds will be supported. generally, if iTunes supports it, boxee should, but there are no guarantees.

Is there a way to add a feed to TED Talks (Feedburner rss: http://feeds.feedburner.com/TedtalksHD)? I've been trying various paths in my sources.xml without luck.

try adding this into your sources.xml :
<source>
<name>TedtalksHD</name>
<path>rss://feeds.feedburner.com/TedtalksHD/</path>
<private>false</private>
</source>
by the way the next version should have a user friendly way of adding feeds etc.
enjoy

Thanks, it works with that last / in the path!
There's an issue with the feed sorting mechanism arranging the items ascending, putting the latest items on the bottom. It should be reversed.
Otherwise, Boxee is looking great on Ubuntu. Keep up the good work :)

TED Talks (which is excellent!) is available in our directory. Internet Video > Video Channels > Culture and Art

Please don't reverse the order. It should remain in chronological order, but on opening the feed it should jump to the latest unplayed (or partially played) episode. This way you can carry on from where you left off and hitting play, they will play in the correct order.
I hate it in iTunes where, if i've missed several episodes, i need to create a temp playlist to watch them in order.
Fred, does that sound ok to you?
Thanks.

I go to this location on my Mac-mini but there is not Boxee folder under Application Support? Is there a different location on the Mac?

I can't find the "RSS Feed" application, nor can I find a "Ted Talks" application, in the latest Boxee beta 9.21.12594.
Am I blind?
I added several flavors of TED in my Boxee account on the website. And restarted boxee. so... how do I find it?
I'm clicking:
- Apps (from the highest level menu)
- And... there's no RSS Feeds app. I tried "Video Podcasts", but the list appears to be fixed...
Also:
- clicking "Feed" in the topmost menu gives me about 65 different things I never wanted. But none of the things I subscribed to.
Additionally, where do the sources.xml show up? (what do I click to view them... if other than "RSS Feeds" app)
UPDATE: Looks like if I search for "RSS" in the left hidden menu of "Apps", _then_ the "RSS Feeds" app shows. Otherwise, it wasn't in the list that shows when you click "Apps". WTF. oh well...

Glad you were able to find it :) You can easily add it to your list of apps on the My Apps screen:
http://boxee.zendesk.com/entries/172601-adding-and-removing-apps-from-my-apps
From there when you select an App, you can add it to your My Apps or as a Shortcut or just use it directly from there.

There should totally be a link to that page under the http://www.boxee.tv/feeds page where it talks about using the RSS App... New users will say "what RSS app?", "how do I add it?"... Or better yet, a note in the default list inside boxee itself. like a tooltip "hey, look over in this hidden left menu for more apps!"...
Thanks, I hadn't seen that page before, looks useful!
