I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04.1 and i've installed Boxee as according to the install guide. When i first try to launch the program, it failed and subsequent research revealed the cause of such error, disabling the visual effort. Now i am somewhat unhappy, but hey at least it's working. Maybe a fix with compatibility later on?

So i log on but there's no mouse cursor, disabled by default. Why?:confused::confused: It should be enabled by default to make navigation easier..heck i can't even get Microsoft MCE Remote V2 properly configured with LIRC so no go there...

So naturally the first thing i try to do is add my video source. So on the left hand side i go to Video --> My Sources --> Add Sources --> Local Sources and guess what, mouse left click does not work!! Woot i found a bug already. But scrolling up and down with the arrow key and hitting enter resolved this.

So iam at this screen:

and i cannot left click either (on the mouse)..sigh. So here i am trying to get it to work..so back to hitting enter on the keyboard again.

So i try out a video...it goes full screen immediately and i can't get out of the screen or alt tab back?? why? Also no onboard screen like XBMC where you can pause, forward, backward, information ETC (we called this the context menu)?? Why can't it be activate with double left click?

Also when watching videos and browsing through the settings or out sections there is a 1 sec freezes, a bit annoying :/

Also can you use the Aeon skin for boxee? if not where can you find better looking skins?

Also bug where keyboard takes 2-3sec to respond...

Youtube video isn't really the best quality, can you change to "High Quality" youtube vids where available?

hi davidw89
thanks for the report..

We are aware of the limitation of the mouse that is why at default we disable and prefer to use a remote or keyboard.

to enable the content menu via a video click "enter" key (then you will be able to stop/pause/ff/recommend etc.)

regarding the keyboard response try this :

edit the file ~/.boxee/UserData/guisettings.xml

find the key "vsync" and change its value to 0

Currently this is the only skin (slightly bias but i like) available but we hope to have many more in the future.

/usr/boxee/userdata

Has only four files:
/usr/boxee/userdata/advancedsettings.xml
/usr/boxee/userdata/Keymap.xml
/usr/boxee/userdata/Lircmap.xml
/usr/boxee/userdata/sources.xml.in.linux

none of which has vysnc.

Cheers

hi davidw89

type in the terminal window :" cd ~/.boxee/UserData" and then edit the "vsync" and change its value to 0 from guisettings.xml.
