Well, It's first time I trying the Boxee and here is my initial thoughts

The installation went well and fast and the application starts fast on my ALU 24", 2,4GHz 4Gig of RAM iMac and the interface is reasonable clean and responsive.

The first thing I did was to add my home network sources which contains my videos, tv shows, musiv etc which also went OK.
When it was time to try to watch one of my videos ( or listen one of my music albums) the application crashed after a minute and I was forced to start it again.

Now the things which went bad after 1st restart: if I wanna go to configure my settings the configuration text is gone, I can't see anything but the green bar but the explanation text is gone everywhere in the settings.
I tryed to restart the app but it isn't helping and I can't get the text back until I do reinstall boxee.

But my biggest concern is that I lose the keyboard control and can't quit or hide boxee if I wanna do something else while I listening music and it's crucial and it's one of the basic function I want to be able to do ! I don't like to lose the control over my mac os x and I don't wanna be forced to restart the computer if the application crashes badly.

I'm currently using Plex and it can correspond to my keyboard commands (cmd+q and cmd+h )and I hope you can implement this basic function in the Boxee.

It's all I can write about boxee for now but it seems to be an promising media player and it has a big potential if you can keep its clean interface :)

My girlfriend's not around, so I can't test this on a Mac... BUT, I think Boxee will respond to a good 'ol Alt-F4.

This makes SOME since, as that is the correct key-combo on Linux and Windows.

When this happens, are you in window mode? If you are, you should be able to click your way back to the screen and out of Boxee.

@chupa thanks for the report and welcome to boxee..."SocalRichard" gives a nice alternative..if boxee crashes(please forward the crash report to us) it should close the application,it should not need a whole new restart of the machine...

the issue with the text disappearing is weird ..are you viewing boxee in english? if this is still an issue you will need to start from scratch (remove the boxee app) and then reinstall.

Regarding the shortcut keys we will look into implementing them in future versions.
