It would be nice to have Pandora added to the list of internet music.

That would rock! I've been a loyal Pandora user for years.

this is probably #1 on my wishlist, but right now i really don't think it's possible without flash support or an agreement between boxee & Pandora. I believe they have a privately available API, so maybe that'll be possible down the line.. for now, i shall dream:)

Pandora would be good. Is it still only available to Americans, though?

MeeMix (http://www.meemix.com/) would be great, too.

Pandora is currently fighting to stay alive :(:(:(
Clearly its better to wait until this issue resolves (one way or another)

In August, Pandora founder Tim Westergren told the Washington Post that the future could be bleak for the Internet radio station due to high percentage of its revenue being forced to go to royalty fees. Now, one month later, Westergren is shooting down rumors and socialsphere speculation about why Pandora is facing potential extinction.

“One of the falacies that is floating around is that Internet radio is poorly monetized — that is not true,” Westergren said. “We’re just being charged more than other forms of radio. At the current pace if we did our projected $23-$24 million this year we would be paying $17 million in royalty fees. That’s 70 percent of our revenue. Someone explain to me how that is fair when satellite radio is charged only about 7.5 percent for its music. It’s really ridiculous.”

http://kevinrose.com/blogg/2008/9/20/itunes-9-ideas.html

Kevin Rose (Digg, Diggnation, Pownce, Etc.) posted some ideas for itunes 9 on this website. I think his ideas are almost exactly spot on for what I want to do with my music and video content (much like Boxee now).

I want to be able to easily share my favorite music & video content with my friends (legally of course). I find lots of new content from my Boxee friends.

I personally use Last.FM (http://last.fm) (which is similar to Pandora, however more popular and with many overlapping features) but I still like to +1 this request for Pandora support in Boxee because it is nice to see more content and more people enjoying their favorite online music and video services via Boxee.

What Boxee users can do as a workaround today is to use PandoraFM (by real-ity.com) (http://pandorafm.real-ity.com) which is kind of a mix between the two and should work in Boxee already, (just note that you will first need a register an last.fm account to use PandoraFM).

PandoraFM is simple. As you listen to music via the excellent Pandora music service each song gets submitted to your profile on Last.FM. You're listening to music, so why shouldn't you be able to account for it? Some call it a mash-up, others call it a hack. I call it Pandora.FM Cool right?

i'm familiar with this service, but I'm not sure that it would help in implementing it into boxee. it seems to be just opening Pandora in a frame & communicating the info w/ Last.FM. Pandora allowed the creator of this service access to their API, and I'd assume it's all done in PHP, which means i won't be able to look at the relevant source code at all.

if i'm missing something here, or if you have any ideas on implementing it, i'd be more than happy to make it happen.

I was only suggesting that you end-users of Pandora could use PandoraFM right now via Boxee's existing Last.fm plugin as a workaround until (when and if) Boxee implement real Pandora support.

Wait, I'm still confused. How do I, an end user of Boxee (thanks a lot by the way. Boxee is the best thing that has happened to the humankind!) access Pandora? I checked PandoraFM on my computer browser, but I'm not sure how to access it via my AppleTV. Any help would be appreciated.

you can't (as far as I know) .

you can use PandoraFM on your pc to scrobble tracks from pandora to your last.fm account, and then use the last.fm plugin to play stations based off of your pandora history.

i think that's just about the extent of pandora interaction that's possible within boxee right now.

The Pandora team loves boxee as much as the boxee team loves Pandora and are tinkering with it... Nothing to announce nor a timeline however.

Yes- this would absolutely make me use Boxee much, much more!

And I just had to say this...

"Dare we open Pandora's Boxee?"

It was there... come on... I had too...

+1 and I would not mind if their ads show on the side or something just like on their webpage. We need to remember free services like Pandora rely on ad revenue to survive exspecially in the face of the recent rate hikes they have to pay per song played.
