Hey All,

Tried searching found nothing so here it goes. My boxee install is the latest available (public alpha) but ive been using it since way back in november or even earlier. With this new version when i try to recognize a tv show like planet earth i click on the recognize button and then boxee freezes. Ive deleted my userdata folder and gone so far as removing boxee altogether (including the application support folder). This happens with many movies/tv shows and also seems to freeze when i try to get more info on certain movies or shows. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel

Yup, I've had this happen as well on my apple tv. I try and get more info and everything hangs. I have to reboot the apple tv. Again, latest version.

I have the same issue on Ubuntu 8.10 64. Files are auto indexed and recognized but when I click more info (in this case to change them from movie to TV) boxee locks up and I have to crash it.
My freezes are consistent with the same group of files. All .avi, and this is weird, all BBC stuff by David Attenborough.
Blue Planet
Planet Earth
Attenborough in Paradise

They all get recognized as movies without separate episode information and freeze boxee when I click more info.

I just registered here to add my name to the people getting this problem.

I have a mac mini and a black macbook. Both use boxee connected to the same media source on a drive connect to my airport extreme.

I just set up boxee on the Macbook to test stuff while my wife watches Americas Next top Model. The problem is it is not recognizing the new episodes and I am getting the freeze when I press recognize.

This happens on both computers.

One other problem I am having though is that on the Mac Mini the A button does not bring up the library status screen but it does on the Macbook. This is really annoying and I can't find out why anywhere.

Yes that appears to be the issue.

thats an excerpt from my debug log.

I don't understand why it should freeze boxee though? Surely it should just say, error cannot connect to server?

Hi,
I've been having the exact issue described on this thread (a program freeze when manually "Recognize"-ing Planet Earth episodes) ever since I installed Boxee a month or two ago. I don't think it's a DNS/tvdb connectivity issue (it probably was back when this tread started, though) -- I've been resolving other shows just fine today, and turning on debugging when resolving the Planet Earth episodes shows nothing out of the ordinary. The file I asked Boxee to resolve appears in the log, but never as part of an error condition, just as part of a series of lines like that suggest it was successfully resolved via IMDB (no connection errors at all, or anything obvious).

It looks like the GUI thread is all that's locked up, since other bits of the system are writing to the log file while the UI is hung.

Does anyone else have this problem, even when the TVDB servers appear to be normal?
