View Full Version : Boxee Media Manager adds characters to file names

I've been having loads of trouble with my Boxee Box and SMB shares following the new firmware updates so I decided to just use the Boxee Media Manager to create the share. However after it scans for my media thousands and thousands of items come up as being identified.

Looking through the list it seems that everytime the Media Manager encounters a symbol in the file name, like a space or a ', it inserts a percentage sign and then numbers. It seems to be %20 for a space and %27 for a '. For example when I try to identify the file the Boxee Box shows the title as "Grey%27s%20Anatomy"

This means that scan doesn't detect it as a valid show or movie if the title has more than one word in it.

Is there a way to fix this?

@ Janus_au (http://forums.boxee.tv/member.php?u=104745) what's the version of media manger do you have? (you can check in the about section)

Also, on what OS did you install it?

I also have this problem running Boxee Box firmware version 1.2.2.20482 and the latest Boxee Media Manager for Mac OS X (1.0.71).

Yup, I did vote as per my previous subject... Unfortunately, I seem to be the only one so I hoping to know if there was a workaround from the others or simply bring some activity to the this forum.

With http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=33055 as my inspiration, the help of Media Renamer (http://code.google.com/p/mediarenamer/), and my knowledge of Powershell, I cleaned up my media folders. Once that was done, I let Ember do its thing. I guess I'm now relying on NFO and TBN files instead of boxee parsing my file names against its servers.

Prior to then letting Boxeebox scan everything, I went to System Settings -> Advanced to clear my thumbnails and cache. One of those options requires a restart of Boxeebox, so I did that one last. Alas, no more unidentified files!
