1. create the following file:
<boxee-config> (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=3962)/UserData/advancedsettings.xml

2. in it, put this:
<advancedsettings>
<glrectanglehack>yes</glrectanglehack>
</advancedsettings>

3. restart boxee.

let me know how that works.

if still not working then try this ..

edited ~/Libary/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/guisettings.xml and added the following under the <videoplayer> node:
<rendermethod>1</rendermethod>

If you download the ATI 8.9 drivers it should solve at least part of this issue. After I installed 8.9 I was able to play the videos without the weird display issue. However after I rebooted though when I click a video then click "Play" it returns me to the list of videos. So at least I could see the video playback properly for a few minutes :(

Also the glrectanglehack didn't seem to work as I had tried the first before changing video drivers. I'm running Vista Business 32 bit with an ATI 9800 Pro.

That seems to fix the second issue. I am able to play the videos now using the rendermethod and the 8.9 Catalyst ATI drivers.

did you try this..

this worked for me. i had to do the last set for it to all work. for me, the file was located at:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\BOXEE\userdata

This alone worked for me. I have ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 with Catalyst Drivers 8.451

Thanks for the help!
