Hey guys. So I've been a Boxee user since day one. Always loved what Boxee does. Here's my setup and then a question.

Boxee box plugged into TV. All my media is stored on a D-Link NAS.

I used to have an old PC that I used as my "Media Server" for my house but I just recently retired it for a D-Link NAS. All my media is now on the NAS. The nas supports UPnP so seeing and playing my media on the Boxee Box is no problem. Here is where my problem comes in... I have two iPads that my wife and I use to watch videos on while in bed, on the deck, so on. Before, this wasn't a problem as I was able to run the Boxee Media Manager on my "Media Server" and the iPad was able to see my shares. Now that I am on a NAS as my media host, how do I publish those shares to the iPad app?

Can I map the drives from the NAS and then use Media Manager on my PC to share them out? As far as I can tell, the Media Manager only lets you add local sources...

Anyone have a similar setup? Know of any work-arounds?

My D-Link NAS is very "Hackable" and already runs on a Linux backbone, is there any way to install Media Manager on the NAS itself?

I work in IT for a living and catch onto things quickly. I have no problems getting my hands dirty with this. I just can't seem to figure out an obvious solution.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. If I find another solution I will post it here for those of you who may have a similar setup. Thanks in advance!!

Yes, that's exactly what you must do :)

I have an identical setup as tyehille and am experiencing the same problem with the iPad app.

While I have long awaited this app, I am afraid that it is not very useful for me unless it supports media on a NAS without a PC running Media Manager. The point of my NAS is to avoid a PC running at all times...

Is there a way to make this work without Media Manager?

Thanks for any input!

I have a HP EX495 which runs on WHS with Media Manager installed and it works fine, I can also send media files via airplay from my iphone 4 to my Boxee Box and TV.
Hope the was helpful

Yes, that's exactly what you must do :)

Or just stump up a few $ and get the Buzz player app for your iPad.. Problem solved!

(sorry, couldn't resist ;))
