When I play full rips in boxee (ripped to ts_video folder) the movie menu never comes up (it starts playing, sometimes at the beginning and sometimes not).
One problem with this is that if the movie is foreign, I cannot set up subtitle options before watching. This has effectively killed watching films with subtitles in boxee. Is there any way to get to the dvd menu in boxee?

I rip my dvd's as ISOs and get full menus. Perhaps consider converting the VIDEO_TS folder to ISOs?

What program are you using to rip the DVDs. I personally use MacTheRipper. In the app itself there is an option to only rip the feature movie alone. If your using that application, maybe you have that option selected. Just a thought.

Boxee, at least on the mac, seems to have some "quirks" with video_ts folders. For me at least, it's working better converted to iso. I've been using toast but if you've got a decrypted video_ts folder you could probably just make an iso with disk utility.
DVD2ONEX will also convert down to iso.
You could probably use fairmount and make an iso right from the disk too. Or not. I haven't tested the idea.

I use ISOs on the ATV. I gave up on the menus and just rip the main movie selecting the audio/video/subtitle tracks I want.
Most of the menus of my DVDs worked fine, some of them not so much, some not at all. So away they go.
