Launched boxee from my HP laptop (nvidia 7600go) on ubuntu hardy 32bit. it loads up (with some graphics errors but its ok once it gets to the login screen). then i have no mouse cursor inside the window. the gnome panel displays on top of boxee in fullscreen mode too. with compiz i have no graphics errors when dislpaying the login page, however with compiz disabled graphics errors abound :eek:i tried to close boxee with compiz disabled and was unable to get back to gnome without restarting the xserver. any ideas?

regarding the mouse:
boxee is designed with remote control in mind so the mouse is disabled by default. you can re-enable it under "settings->appearance->look and feel".
i am not sure about the gnome panel you mentioned. but when using boxee you should probably disable compiz.
thanks for the report.

not sure what i did exactly but i was able to get it working. the gnome panel no longer displays on top of boxee in fullscreen mode. with compiz disabled i was unable to even use boxee correctly. but it works for me now and i love it!

So, I guess this brings a question to my mind, what is the thought process for the usability of boxee? Is it thought to be a media appliance (like AppleTV)? I don;t even have an IR port on my Ubuntu box, or on my windows box for that matter, so they are not remote capable. And Boxee has been the first media application on Linux that I have installed that did not need me to install codecs to watch a DVD. So I hope that you rethink the mouse input idea, as well as improve the keyboard response (mine seems very slow to react and drops multiple strokes of the same letter - like "feed" would be "fed" if typed without waiting on the screen).

i completely agree with you. i would like to see what the idea is on what type of computers boxee is geared for. mine certainly is slow for typing like yours and i dont even know how to quit watching a movie once i have one started playing. is there a list of keyboard controls somewhere?
