After installing boxee ipad app, installing boxee media server on a vista machine, I keep getting the '1.2.3 steps' screen when selecting the 'my media' section of the ipad app.
I also keep getting the 'buy a boxee box at amazon' screen when trying to 'air video' contents to my boxee box. (firmware 1.2.0.20310).
All on the same network, (boxee wired).
Boxee box 'sees' my vista so I think it's somthing with the ipd app.
Also tried installing BMM on XP and Win7 machines, but same result.
Am I missing something? Looked so easy...
Ipad firmware 4.3.1, boxee states 'ipad will work on iOS 4.x

If you haven't already, restart BMM on whichever system you have it running on currently and see if anything shows up under My Media.
Also see if port 8088 is open and not being used by another process and not being blocked by any locally installed firewalls.

I opened port 8088 of the machine running BMM. And rebooted my Ipad. And YESSSS it works. Tried transcoding a 720 mkv dexter from a network share (on my Synology NAS) through BMM wireless, but that's a bit too much to ask. That simply doesn't work.
I'll try later with a wired connection of the win7 BMM machine to a NAS network share to transcode to my Ipad.
Anyway. Thanx for your advise. Got me on the right track!!!!

My ipad doesn't show my BB either. I installed the new firmware, but it can't find the BB.
Nevermind. After an iPad reset it can find the BB.

Is your port 8088 open? That seems to fix it for everyone else that has posted to this thread.

Well. I just started a video with the app and transferred it to the BB. But i could not stop the video with the remote. Only pause worked, and left and right.

I have the same problem. I have the bmm enabled in windows firewall for both public and private networks. I have also forwarded the port 8088 on my router still no luck. Not able to stream my media to iPad app on iPad 2012 from win 7 pro. My boxee box can play all the files I have shared in boxee media manager on my win 7 machine.

In win 7 go to start, type services in services go to bonjour go to properties in bonjour. Ensure that bonjour is set to automatic. Mine was set to automatic delayed start and the app would not see my local media from bmm. once set to automatic stop and restart the service and now your media that is highlighted in bmm will show up in the ipad app. Or at least this worked for me. So weird because the service was started and running in automatic delayed mode and the ipad app would not see any of "my media" soon as it switched to automatic mode it worked perfectly.

So my fix above works perfectly until my system goes to sleep. Then when it is awoken from sleep the iPad app no longer see's my shares. If I reboot the desktop that bmm is on then the iPad app will once again see my content. Or if my desktop is still on and awoken from sleep mode and I go into services once my computer is awoken from sleep stop and restart bonjour service the iPad app will see my media again.
I'll annoyingly update this again if I find anything else out because I kno there are many of us out there that can not get this working.
