Was wondering, what is the current Windows alpha release? Also, can anyone give me an idea of why a lower res episode of something like The Daily Show would stream all choppy but a 720p apple movie trailer streams with hardly a skip? Using Win XP SP3 with the 0.9.6.xxxx version of boxee.

Thanks.

where are you playing the daily show from?

if it's from hulu, the reason is that hulu is a flash stream, while apple movie trailers is a stream of the actual file.

Upgraded to 0.9.7.4825 and its only marginally better. I played it from Comedy Central and Hulu, same experience.

yeah, a flash stream is always gonna be a little more resource intensive than an actual file stream.

OK, thats what I thought but given the low resolution I was 100% sure. Why is flash the choice of developers when better results can be achieved otherwise?

considering how bad the performance of netflix and hulu were, on first release... and how good they are now... we're in good hands. :)

remember, boxee on winodws is sooooo new... it's gonna be a while until it's up to the standards of the other platforms.

I can run Boxee on Ubuntu and AppleTV so I'll be ok, plus I'm a patient type :)

Thanks
