So I haven't posted about this and am not really sure if someone has already done this, but I have the hauppauge remote working flawlessly with boxee. the hauppauge remote is much more flexible than it seems. To get boxee to work you need to edit a file called irremote.ini located in c:\windows\.
first you must find [Applications] and add at the end:

then at the end of the file add:

you can edit this to whatever you want, but for me, this works perfectly for my needs.

Nice.
Did you figure out how to select letters when the on-screen keyboard comes up. I can not use the hauppauge remote to come out of the text input box and down to the letters to select them.

Pressing the down arrow will navigate to the letters. Inputting text isn't possible with the hauppauge remote's numeric pad (afaik) as there is no way to de-bounce button presses into text boxee can understand.
mkriegal's script works perfectly, just make sure you go 'Start > Hauppauge WinTV > Restart IR' after editing the script to enable the changes :)

if you add the below line to the [Default] section under [Applications], then the Go button in the upper left on the remote can be used to start Boxee from the desktop if you want to leave the green power button it's default (it opens MCE for me).

I also use Beyond TV on the same computer and wanted the remote commands to be similar... I made some minor adjustments to the BOXEE section of the IrRemote.ini

Thanks for posting this! Worked like a charm with the Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1950 IR port as well.
I have an ASRock ION 330 with the external 1950 tuner for recording in Windows 7 Media Center and use a Logitech Harmony one remote. I set up Boxee to launch from within W7MC, but the remote wasn't working with Boxee.
At first I was looking at 3rd party options like EventGhost or Intelliremote, but they both seemed cumbersome for what I wanted. I was about to give up (for the evening, not forever :) ) when I stumbled across this thread.
No problems whatsoever, and now I can switch between WMC and Boxee, all with the Harmony One. Truly the best of both worlds.
As a tip, in case anyone else has a similar set up...
In Windows 7, you can't just edit/save the .ini file.
Instead, open it in Notepad, save the original elsewhere, edit THAT, then delete the ini file in C:\Windows. Then you can save the new ini file.

This worked for me. Helped me for the hulu desktop app too. Has anybody else had problems with it being really unresponsive? I have tried changing the "RepeatDelay" option from 3 to 2 and 0 with no avail. It isn't really a predictable behavior. Just don't work very well. I had Ubuntu on this morning (I finally gave up on MythTV after 5 years of tedious dedication) and it worked great so I don't think it's a remote/battery problem. Seems to just have some latency.

You can edit the irremote.ini file if you open notepad.exe in the C:\windows folder as administrator then open irremote.ini. Makes tinkering a lot easier.

hey i am looking for anyone who can get me the code to start my hulu desktop with my hauppauge remote. i have it working perfect on boxee. it also works great on hulu . i just want to start it from the desktop with my remote green button. i can start boxee with remote great with go button. any help is appreciated thanks.
