DVD's not playing back in boxee

I installed the ubuntu version of boxee and added the folder where I backup all my dvd's. These are backed up using dvdshrink and boxee sees them as videos. It even downloads the cover art and description. But when I click play...it keeps going back and forth from "loading... Please Wait.", "Buffering". It never actually plays the file.

The library is on a networked drive. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I tried copying a dvd local and playing it and it worked. So I guess this means my network is not working fast enough? I play videos off a share in vista, so is there anything i can do to speed it up in ubuntu (I'm new to using linux too)?

what sort of network are you using?

dvds are somewhat of a relic, using mpeg2 encoding which is quite the hog.
