FYI,

Just a post to let folks know what works. I'm using a Mac-mini. Pushing to an HD-TV monitor and Yamaha sound projector. I'm having good success with the M-Audio Transit - USB to TOSlink. It works well with DVD player, VLC and boxee. I'm having some of the random playback issues others have reported with full-ripped DVDs (VIDEO_TS) using RipIt - but mainly with menu rendering, not the main title playback. Would be great if boxee could recognize the DVD bundle that RipIt generates as OS X does - DVD Player Media Document.

Thanks,
scnewber

Just curious why you are using the external sound card? The mini has builtin optical (via toslink) that works very well

FACT. Just use the built-in optical out. I got a MacMini connected to my Sony AV Receiver and it works like a charm.

I have the same issue. I have a Mac Pro with all the proper settings checked in Boxee and in System Prefs and my Sony reciever displays "DEC ERROR" on any files with 5.1 or DTS AC3 audio. I have had this problems since I first got Boxee. I'm curious what could be causing this. I just want it to pass the AC3 audio through. Maybe it's a hardware dependent problem.

A thought about this issue. I had installed XBMC in the past. I wonder if some files are conflicting?
