I'm not sure if I should ask here or upstream, but I don't use XBMC, so I'll ask here. :)
I really wish audio supported seek. I never really use FF/REW as they are annoying. Seeking +10/-10 is much better.
I tried to switch to StepForward/StepBack in Keymap.xml, but I just doesn't do anything.
I googled and found this:
http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21553
I know it's from 06, but I'm thinking it never got implemented. I'd be happy to give it a go, if you're interested in a patch.

If you are a C++ programmer then you can help with Boxee development today already indirectly by develop XBMC:

If the patch is already ready please jump to: http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/?title=HOW-TO_submit_a_patch

The boxee client software is based on the open-source XBMC media center (http://xbmc.org).
As strong supporters of open-source, and specifically this project, we ask that if you are a developer looking to contribute in any way to boxee, you head to the following:
* XBMC project web site - http://www.xbmc.org
* XBMC community forum - http://www.xbmc.org/forum
* XBMC project on sourceforge - http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/
* XBMC project SVN download - http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=87054

Thanks for the info, guys!
@Gamester17, though I dabble in development (read: hack), I'm buy NO MEASURE a C++ coder. Just the same, I'm downloading the source, and reading the Wikis... If it were implementing some feature from scratch, I would cede it to someone more qualified. But since this functionality is implemented elsewhere, I think it's worth a go.
Unless there is some stringent qualifier for submitting a patch. Like I don't have to write an implementation of strcpy() from scratch before getting in?

You can catch XBMC developers on IRC to ask anything or post in our community forum:

Wow I can't believe the only mention of "seek" I can find on this forum is from 2008...
Is this not really in higher demand? I really, really want to be able to seek through audio... even if it's just skipping forward/back 10 or 30 seconds at a time or something...
I have some really long songs... and some DJ mixes that are all one huge mp3...

What's worse is the link I referenced is from '06, in XBMC.
That is four years.
I bring this up to the team from time-to-time, but haven't had much luck.
