Cant run boxee

whenever i try to start boxee on my ubuntu, i get the folowing problem
the screen turns black for 2 or 3 seconds and than i get my normal ubuntu login box

i have tried to disable all visual effects and stuf but no sucsess
i also tried to disable the Compiz but also no sucsess
the last thing i tried was to open a second terminal (ctrl + alt + F2) and got this:

please post the output of /tmp/xbmc.log (run terminal or Application > Accessories > Text Editor, and open /tmp/xbmc.log).
also, please try running boxee from command line, as it might give more insights into the problem.
can you please tell me about your hardware?

I get the following problem when I start boxee. The screen turns black for 2 or 3 seconds and an icon on the status bar appears for 3 second and disappear.

It seems to me that you don't have a display driver properly installed. Please read this thread (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=345) and follow the steps. Which video card do you have?

You'll need to install the NVidia restiricted drivers. See http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=345.
