I was having good luck with the previous build of Boxee. I could play videos reliably, and was using it heavily. However, the new version is proving completely unusable.

I have the issue reported in this thread, about it kicking to windowed mode when playback starts:
http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=306

That's assuming I even get as far as playback though. Most of the time, Boxee just crashes when I either try to go into My Sources, or when I attempt to start playing a file. I did install the optional crash reporter, but I haven't seen any prompts from it. Hopefully you guys are getting the reports. In the meantime, I think I need to go back to the previous build unless anyone has any ideas.

MacBook Core Duo 2.0ghz
OS X 10.5.4
2GB RAM
Sony Bravia 32" 720p TV via DVI to HDMI cable, mirrored video mode
Toslink optical cable to surround sound decoder

hi.
sorry you had so much trouble using this ver.

if you can - i would suggest you tried a "fresh install".
all the local settings are basically saved under "~/Library/Application Support/BOXEE" so please "rename" this folder (so that you can recover later if needed) and try running boxee. this will require re-defining the user and sources but may resolve the crashes you experience.

in any case it would be cool if you can copy+paste the crash report to my email (vulkan@boxee.tv).

thanks.

Throwing out prefs isn't helping anything. Once I've done that, I discovered yet another crash when I try to add a source. I'm emailing you the crash report, but I think I need to go back to the previous version.

Scratch that, the previous version's installer errors out. Is there anywhere else that Boxee puts files that I need to flush out?

no. only /Applications/Boxee.app and ~/Library/Application Support/BOXEE

you can cmd+L on the installer when it breaks and paste the log.
