Hey Boxee and Boxee users,

I just installed Boxee yesterday then attempted to use it today. I clicked on the "Add New..." put in my username and password but after I click on the ok button this pops up:

Internet connection is unavailable.
Login could not add a new user...
Please check your Internet Connection.

That makes no sense since I'm hardwired into the internet
I have a new unibody macbook pro if that make any difference, but can somebody please help?

Can't figure it out-- if I don't have a proxy active and force Boxee to connect through authoxy, I can't get boxee to work.

This fixed it for me:

sudo aptitude install lib32nss-mdns

The mac linux core doesn't know "aptitude," anyone know the mac equivalent?

Yikes! No support on this one? :/ I am having the same problem. It connected at first, but after one "exit" and renter it cannot find the connection.

Did you install lib32nss-mdns?

sudo apt-get install lib32nss-mdns

Or get it with synaptic or aptitude or whatever package manager you use...this solved the problem for me.

Thanks, worked for me too on Ubuntu.

Didn't work for me but what I also did was install tinyproxy and told Boxee to use the local proxy server. Don't know why but that made it work for me on Ubuntu.

Same issue happens to me with snow leopard 10.6.3. When I open Boxee after a few seconds I lost connection and I have to reconnect.

A solution is needed please!

Hi had changed my main wired connection properties and suspected Boxee didn't like the new name or something...

My "custom" connection had a static IP (served by a Linksys router)... as soon as I removed the manual settings and went back to DHCP Boxee connected without delay.

I can reproduce the problem easily by simply assigning a static IP to the machine running Boxee...

I can run it on DHCP no problem but will have to figure an easy way to ssh into it with a changing IP address...

I hope this info helps and that maybe a more knowledgeable Ubuntu/Boxee user can figure the root cause of the issue from here!
