Are there any external HD DVD/Blu Ray drives that work with Boxee that don't cost an arm and a leg. With the Optiplex small formfactor GX260 that I have I doubt I'd find a slim line drive that would fit.

Also to play 1080i/1080p video / HDDVD or Blu Ray do you need a dual core CPU? Would a P4 2.60 Ghz with a 1 gig of ram be sufficient?

boxee will not play hddvd/bluray at this time.

those mediums require proprietry decryption mechanisms that would probably take a while to be available to boxee, if at all.

hmmm well that sucks. Hopefully there will be an HD section added to the Internet Videos section so there will be a greater portion of free HD content. Also an option to add OTA or DirecTV or Sling plugins through the console would be great as well. Basically ways to get HD easily.

Workarounds exists (but those workarounds can not be built-in Boxee for legal reasons), see:

@Team Boxee, expect many more people to ask about this, you need to have a FAQ about Blu-Ray and HD DVD :p

As long as there will be places within Boxee to easily access a good amount of HD content that would be great!
