Quick question, where does Boxee scrape the info about an album from? I'm referring to the review like text that comes up when you hit the "i more" icon.

Seems to be allmusic.com just guessing from the reviews I recognise.

its a combination of several sources, and we're in transition to a licensed provider.

Ah, the reason I ask is that the "info" about my band is more of a review of the CD. And although the person who wrote it makes valid points, I think like most reviewers they listened to 2 songs. : P

It's a touch brutal and kinda biased for the "more info" spot I would think. I mean he says some nice things, but in a very "reviewer" sorta "poke you in the eye way". Like he WANTS to like us, but since he is a reviewer he cant ignore things he sees as flaws least he be kicked out of the guild. : P

It seems strange to have something that resembles a review in a place that would normally contain bio information. It just sorta stacks the deck for people discovering music I think. They should be able to form their own opinions without being told what to think of music at the top level.

I checked Allmusic.com and it is not were the content describing our last CD comes from. What they have listed is much more along the lines of what I would expect, in contrast gives a somewhat poor description of what we sounded like at the time (we are hard to define) but they don't attempt to make judgement or discourage people from listening.

As and musician, I would rather have the artistically inaccurate but information driven content as opposed to one persons opinion in such a prominent spot.

Hopefully your new source as a "licensed provider" sees the task as to provide more information about the people making the music. I think thats what people would expect from that icon. heh.

Oh btw, I freakin love the fact that lyrics show up for songs.... I have been screaming that that should be a standard feature in players for years!

@OpaqueMurdock - if you give me the band/disc name i can see what info we're picking up for it, maybe we can do better.

also, i love it that we have musicians (well, artists in general) using boxee - please add me as a friend and recommend your disc to me to i can listen to it :)
