I understand why boxee wouldn't auto-populate vidoes with no meta-data to your friends. You wouldn't want to spam everyone with a bunch of oddly named downloads that there is no chance of them having.

But I think you should still be able to selectively recommend them to friends.

Say if I know a friend of mine has this same video.

As it is currently, the recommend option isn't even present on non-metadata videos.

I haven't tested this same scenario with music, but think it should work then same way.

boxee does let you do that on data that other users are able to access. for instance, you can recommend a youtube clip, etc. just a filename means nothing - the recieving party would have no interaction with the item.
