Yahoo! has opened up the API for their music video collection.
http://developer.yahoo.com/music/

This could be made into a nice new plugin for Boxee

PS! Yahoo! Music API could probably be used for other things than music videos as well as it gives developers access to the Yahoo! Music catalog of artists, albums, tracks, videos, ratings and more. It provides numerous ways to browse the catalog: through charts, search, similarities, genres, artists, and user recommendations and ratings. Adding content to your site becomes simple when using our API and video player.

hey gamester,

indeed its a cool service. what i would like to see implemented most of all is the music video service. though i have to admit i failed to find the specific api that lets me access the music video itself.

yeah, for the time being, a direct link to the media file is needed & a lot of apis w/ copyrighted content don't expose this functionality because it allows for easy downloading.

so they do playback through a flash player

Once you have discovered some videos through the API, you can easily embed them for playback on your site with the Yahoo! Music Videos Flash Player.

in an older thread, there was some discussion about using webkit or xulrunner for flash support. that's probably the best bet right now for services like this.. but it's probably not easy or quick to implement, and since a lot of flash apps are meant for mouse & keyboard, i have no idea how it'll be possible for flash to integrate well with input from a remote.
