hi all,

boxee for Windows has just been released to over 200 early access users (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=1811).

i kindly request that this version does not get sent from one user to another.

its a very early version of boxee for the PC, which unlike Mac has a huge number of configurations, so its important for us to know who is using it, how, and what is the experience, without being overwhelmed.

if you wish to be included in the next batch of users, please reply below listing your pc hardware: cpu, gpu, memory, remote (yes/no), and is this a desktop, laptop or computer in the living room.

we will process these requests as this version matures.

support is being handled primarily via the forum, so feel free to open new threads here (http://forum.boxee.tv/forumdisplay.php?f=5).

thank you all,
tom & the boxee team

update :This thread is closed for the second lot of alpha testers . thank you all!

Well, since ya posted twice, I shall reply twice ;)

Anyway, would love to be part of the Windows Alpha. I have been a keen Linux boxee user, though not so vocal as I have had little problems:

Here are my details:

Windows XP SP3
Intel Pentium D 2.2GHz
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1500
Hauppauge Windows Media Centre Remote v2 using a USB IR Reciever
Creative XiFi Music
HTPC (Shuttle XPC) used in the living room to watch videos/listen to music/watch internet TV

Would love to be chosen to feel some Windows boxee love - you know it makes sense.

Hello,
I've been using boxee on our mac mini and I'm hoping to start using it on our main TV which is currently run by the following anemic dinosaur:

Stock HP Desktop m370n running XP MCE 2002 with SP2 with the MCE IR remote in our living room connected to a 46" Samsung LCD 1080p HDTV via VGA

Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Hyper-Threading, 800 MHz Front side

ASUS P4SD motherboard without on-board graphics, 512mb RAM (I know, I know, but it's worked for 4 years running XP MCE without a problem!)

On-board 5.1 sound.

Video: ATI Radeon 9200 with 128MB memory.

Surprisingly, it displays in full 1080p via VGA connection on our Samsung HDTV, but can't actually play 1080p video. It can stream Netflix and Hulu well, however, and DVDs look great. Thanks for a chance to try boxee!

I have lots of beta testing experience so sign me up pretty please!!!!!

Desktop System:
* 2.4 Ghz (Celeron)
* 512MB RAM
* 120GB, 80GB Hard Disks
* Radeon x550
* XP PRO post SP3 (pre-integrated)

Laptop:
* 933 Mhz (crusoe)
* 256MB RAM
* 80GB Hard Disk
* Radeon Mobility M6 LY
* XP PRO post SP3 (pre-integrated)

I know my laptop is not very powerful but as a person who evaluates lots of software, I find that it is quite useful to test software on under-performing hardware, so as to weed out software or parts of software that are not performing in an efficient and 'snappy' manner.
