I turned on my Boxee Box this morning only to be greeted with a Red Screen. I've google it and some people had success removing all cables and reattaching, others were able to boot into recovery and preform a factory reset.
When I boot into recovery (amber light shows), I am still presented with the red screen.
Anyone else have similar issues ?

Sounds dead to me.
I'd ago ahead and RMA while your still under warranty (assuming you got the extended holiday warranty of course).

Seems to be back working now, while it was on the red screen I pulled out the HDMI cable and then plugged it back in.
This is a bit worrying, especially that a few people have reported the problem. I really hope my box isn't faulty :(

I had my first red screen yesterday. I tried going into recovery mode and still got the red screen. I tried a couple of times unplugging the power cable, but this didn't seem to work. Eventually, after unplugging power, HDMI, and external disks and turning off the television (just grasping at straws there) and then plugging it all back in after a short while, it started up. However, it had lost all my settings so I think the internal flash storage may have become corrupted (the firmware appeared fine, because it was still on the latest version). I had shut the box down and restarted it several times yesterday, because I was developing a test application and I need to force Boxee to get the updated code, so I'm wondering if that was what caused it. Hopefully, it won't happen again.

I had something similar with the first box I had, although it was a black screen. I would push the power butt on and see the little green man light up, but nothing would show up on the screen. My solution? Sent it back for a replacement at Amazon.

I received a 2nd boxee box today with another hardware problem. When navigating it started to press buttons automatically it seemed. i pressed a 1 and it did 20 times 1, so i tought a button was stuck or something. So i tried it with my other boxee box remote. Same problem..
Then i changed the boxee box from upstairs to downstairs and tried with that box and the problem was gone. So definately a hardware error.
I Wonder if i should post these kind of issues here or at jira or somewhere else.

JE,
The multiple button presses sometimes can be resolved (and most of the time are by pairing the remote to the Boxee Box). This has happened to other users as well, please follow the following directions and see if that helps:

Last night was a bad night for my Boxee.
First, I had no video, but I did have audio, then about 5 mins later, I got the "red screen of death".
Then when I rebooted, it started working again, but my boxee remote is not working anymore.
I tried the pairing process, with no results.
I then tried a factory reset, but could not select the proper option because the remote isnt working, and the iphone wont work for this particular process.
Im exchanging for a replacement through amazon.

You know you can plug a keyboard and mouse into the boxee and it does work.

My confidence in this particular unit is shot.

2 days ago it started with a black screen after the 3d intro boot screen.
After trying everything fac reset/cables/reflash & latest RC which would fix the blackscreen! and funny enough it did.... for just 1 night!
Now a day later i start up my boxee and instead of the black screen of dead I got the read logo of death! again tested all options but nothing works.
Really this boxee box adventure i started has been a total nightmare and now to top that it's dead.
I wouldn't recommend this box to my worst enemy by now.
RMA will take 6-10 weeks, and my best guess is that I will get back a replacement that will die on my eventually as well..
Ain't life a bitch :D

If you're having repeat red screens of death, try this: replace your HDMI cable.
I was having reoccurring red screens of death. At first, I could unplug the cable and Boxee would restart.
Several red screens later, I could only get it back if I did a factory restore.
A handful of red screens later, and I couldn't even get to the factory restore menu. Basically, a dead duck.
I just spent an hour on the phone with D-Link. Swapped out my fancy HDMI cable for a generic freebee I had laying around, and my Boxee is now fine.
Not sure if this will fix every red screen problem, but it definitely solved mine.
