Maybe not what you were looking for but you can always "flush" your database and rescan. This link (http://boxee.zendesk.com/entries/325781-reset-erase-the-database) will get you there.

I've had several problems today with both the boxee software on Mac and Windows, and the Boxee Box with identifying movies from IMDB. I think there's something going on with IMDB right now. I've had movies that formerly identified with no issue fail to identify today.
I had 3 MAJOR films I ripped from my collection fail to identify. Boxee simply says returns no results when I attempted to identify them, but I restarted a bunch and kept trying and trying and eventually the software populated a list of choices.
Not sure exactly what is going on, but the signs point to a connection problem with IMDB.

I bought a box for my folks for xmas and when setting it up for them I was noticing a disproportionate number of files were coming up as unidentified.
The interesting thing was that when I went to the manual identification screen, I deliberately simplified the search criteria in order to pick something up and still had no luck, instead getting 'no results found' message....that was until I got frustrated and just kept pressing the search button over half a dozen times and all of a sudden 'no results found' turned into a big list of results!
So I think you are on to something about the IMDB and, if I were a betting man I would wager that due to the expected throughput over the current few day, it looks to me that IMDB have set some pretty aggressive time out on their APIs.
