I've read that there are no debs for 64, but is it possible to compile it to support my system?

Well it SHOULD be possible, but, we'll have to wait for a new source release... the last release seems to be a bit buggy, and doesn't want to compile to well :\

But what is the way to compile it? I don't even know how to get started. The readme says ./configure in a terminal but it just writes file not found. I am supposed to run that inside the trunk folder right?

README.linux is a good start. install all the deps. you'll also need autoconf and automake.
autoconf to generate the configure script.

Wait, why do you need automake? Or do you just need that with autoconf?.... And I'm trying to compile again with some minor fixes/workarounds I've been studying.. I'm hoping it works :)

@bizthepirate - there is at least one of the libs requiring it to compile imo.

I just tried running boxee in a chrooted 32-bit environment on my Ubuntu Hardy configuration and it is working fine. Let me know if anyone wants a list of steps to be taken to get things working.
