View Full Version : Pink horizontal bars appeared, and now my Boxee Box is dead

Got my Boxee Box from Best Buy tonight, set it up on my TV, upgraded it's firmware, watched some online shows, and all of the sudden pink colored horizontal bars showed up on the entire screen, and I was no longer able to navigate around the Boxee Box. Turned off the Boxee Box, turned it back on, no signal was coming from it. Turned it off, unplugged it's power source, waited five minutes, plugged it back in, turned it back on, no signal.
Tried it on another TV, same issue, no signal.
Anyone have this issue? I am worried that my and many other Boxee Box units might be lemons :(

Yikes, that does indeed sound like a hardware failure.
You can try doing a factory reset (http://boxee.zendesk.com/entries/328058-how-do-i-perform-a-factory-reset), but I have a feeling you're just gonna have to take it back to Best Buy and have them exchange it for you.
That sucks. Happens with any product line, to a certain extent, but let's hope it's not happening too much more than is ordinary.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the factory reset isn't doing anything. I'm turning it on by pressing and holding the power button in for about 6 seconds, but then the same old issue of nothing happening, happens. The boxee logo lights up a light green, but that's the extent of anything happening.

Yeah, something inside the Box fried. My condolences :(
