I am hearing an annoying humming noise from my boxee box. It quiets down when I apply pressure to the upper corner on the SD card side. I was thinking I could create some kind for ear muffs for it.
Is this humming normal? If I was to exchange it, you I do it through Dell or D-Link?

I have the same thing I'm pretty sure it's normal. Although others will say it's not.

Happens to me too. With the pressure the box is barely audible, without it it's fairly noticeable (when I don't have a video playing, at least)

Why does this need a new thread? Can people really not search for 2-3 minutes before posting?

What was really asking is: If I was to exchange it, should I do it through Dell or D-Link?
I was thinking of exchanging it as I read this is a defect and other units are quieter.

Unless you ahve gone past the return period you would want to go through Dell 1st. After the return period you woulld go through D-Link.

If you have spare sdcard, then stick it in it else tape the opening of the sdcard ..

i am afraid in my case this does nothing
has to be pressure on the side of the case to stop the resonating
as its not sound coming out of the hole its the side of the box acting as a speaker

Unless you're in a soundproofed room then you won't notice it while watching movies/TV. The fact of the matter is that most ambient noise will drown out this noise. It's a psychological matter.. I was at first annoyed with it, though I decided to live with it and now I don't notice it. Just a matter of getting used to ;)

I have the same issue.
It only requires a very small amount of pressure on the side to stop the humming. I just lent a small black rubber coaster I had laying around up against the side. Not the most professional solution but it works. :D
