Is anyone else getting an error trying to play DTS-MA?
Am I doing something wrong as I thought it was supported!

OK, just a FYI its always better to say what the error you are getting is ;) Also what type of file, what you were trying to do and any other information that might help others give you an answer and if needed give the Boxee team enough information so taht they can try to recreate it.
I have seen others being able to play DTS-MA movies, but there have been a few issues with DTS-MA BD-ISOs and MKVs.

m2ts file straight off the BD.
Error: "cannot initialize audio, please check audio settings"
And yes my Onkyo 805 does support DTS-MA and the file does work on Popcorn Hour!

Is this with all of your DTS-MA files? Just this one? Does this file play OK in the Boxee Beta? Can you post the mediainfo information? What was the file created with, ect ect.
Just trying to get all the information out there so its eaier to troubleshoot.

The only one I tried thus far. I am currently running it thru MKV Merge ver. 4.4.0 in the hopes that it will help.
Does Boxee have any issues with header compression?

Boxee wont play\will have issues playing files with header compression from what I have read. I have also ready they may be working on a fix for this.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I am having similar problems.
Do you have "Match Screen Refresh Rate to Video" selected?

this is my vote too, try unchecking this and play from the original content not the mkv, see if that helps

I don't think it can bitstream DTS-MA but it may be decoding it as LCPM...Otherwise we are prolly getting only the dts core.
I unchecked all the audio stuff and the sync refresh rate.
These guys need to implement an auto select feature so that the Boxee can select for itself according to the file.

the problem with 'auto select' is that there are three pieces of data and we only have two:
1) what audio track is in the content
2) what the receiver/TV says it supports over HDMI via EDID
3) what it actually supports
We don't know (3), just 1 and 2. So we have to give you the option to provide separate configuration, both in case you want things set up a certain way (bitstreaming means no volume control from the device), or if your receiver doesn't report the right EDID info.
DTS-MA is either a) bitstreamed, b) stripped to DTS core and bitstreamed as DTS, or c) stripped to DTS core and decoded on the box, then sent as LPCM 5.1
what happens if you enable the bitstreaming options, disable the match screen refresh to video option, then try to play? There is a bug that disabling this specific option may work around.
Cheers

Interesting. Will not give DTS-MA using the settings checked for DTS-MA capable receiver. However if I check DTS capable receiver and DTS-MA capable receiver it works.
I now see DTS-MA up on my Onkyo 805.
It is streaming thru windows 7 network but I haven't played enough to judge how well it is doing in regard to video or audio dropouts.
My video setting is 1080p/24.
One question regarding settings. Why do they not list video and audio under one heading?

yeah, that is a nuance with how we detect dts-hd streams; i didn't think anyone would want to bitstream dts-hd but decode dts so i never looked into a method to address that.
glad to hear it is bitstreaming properly :)
personally i'd love to have audio and video under the same part; i think the difficulty is managing appearance (all things visual) being in one spot

I watched a full mkv(not m2ts) tonite using the setting in the previous post. No audio or video dropouts/problems of any sort. Pleasing.
I would like to see a way to page up or down large #'s of files. It would also be good if one could go from the last file to the first file, not sure how to describe it but like a wrap around thing...
M2TS files will not restart if the video is paused.
thnx for your help btw.
