I keep all my content in a network share on a Windows Home Server. But it looks like Boxee Box only scans once a day for updates?

How can I get it to monitor folders for updates like my old HTPC does? Do I have to add new files, manually start a scan, and wait until it finds them?

Also, it seems as if scanning is VERY VERY VERY slow. MediaBrowser scanned my 1TB collection in about 35 seconds. Boxee Box has been going for 5 hours now and isn't halfway through yet.

Currently it only scans once a day, which sucks and hopefully will get fixed.

You need to manually start a scan, yeah.

It usually takes a long time to identify after it scans, especially large collections. If you go to settings > sources you can see if it's got a giant pile that it's working on identifying. The scanning is not exactly lightning-quick but it shouldn't be anything like that long after the first time.

OUCH. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Boxee I hope you're reading this. This is possibly a deal killer for me and might push me to send it back to Amazon.

Between the web streaming issues and now this, the usable feature-set is getting pretty small. A decent workaround would at least be to provide a "refresh" command in any given folder or area you're browsing. So if I'm looking at a TV show and an episode is missing from the list and I KNOW it's there, I have some immediate recourse to make Boxee check it again. Not a permanent fix, but it makes working around this fault a lot less painful.

i dont get it, i have an SMB share pointing to a directory, i put a file in there and my boxee can see it right away. what problem are you guys seeing?

i setup all my shares with 'frequent' scanning when i still had 0.9. maybe it 'remembered' that during the upgrade?

boxee will of course be able to see the "file" straight away when navigating to the files section - as this section is just a file browser, not the contents of boxee's own media database.

what people are talking about is when boxee checks the folders it monitors and scrapes details of those files to it's database: only once a day in v1.0.x

Thanks for the information please note Boxee does scan daily but will only scan in the background if you are playing any content e.g a movie, music etc it will pause until this has finished so we recommend that you add your source leave it parked overnight and then see how it is in the morning

I'm confused. You're saying that it will scan once per day, but only scan while you are watching content but will pause? Pause what, the video? Or are you saying it pauses the scan while you are watching the video?

Also, why does Boxee not have the "continuous scan" option like in *0.9? Is it because it would be too much memory for Boxee Box?
