I guess i will find this out tonight when i try an install my Boxee box. But has any one tried a HDMI to DVI cable with the Boxee box? I only have DVI on my TV so I cant just use the HDMI cable. I have optical in on my receiver. I believe HDMI standard is supposed to be backward compatible with DVI.

I have been working to solve the HDMI to DVI connection. I got my boxee last weekend. I had to purchase a plug adapter to get the boxee to connect to my 6 year old LCD. My TV does not have HDMI. It seem to have everything else, but the best I could find was the DVI port.
So the boxee worked well for the first five days. Last night I turned on the TV and got no video from the Boxee. This was the same day that I read online that boxee had a firmware update coming out that would include the VUDU app upgrade. Maybe they are related?
So after calling D-LInk tech support, I was told the device was bad. That seems a little strange, since I could connect to boxee from ipad remote. I was told to return the device to Amazon and get a replacement. Amazon rocks. They had a replacement here the next day. And no love. I tried both boxes on a number of different DVI screens. The new box will not even startup, I assume, because it can not see a valid video connect. Actually it starts up, shows the loading boxee logo. But goes black.
Now tech support tells me that the DVI plug that worked so well, does not work. So unless I get some support luv, I have to return the coolest device I have seen in a long while.
I am fairly technical, but have not been able to make much headway. Any ideas? While the D-link tech support was very friendly, they were basically working from a script. And I had to ask them to repeat everything a couple of times. Off Shore tech support is not a great solution for this product.
I am going to have to fall back and find a different hardware platform for boxee. And I so loved the sweet little black remote!
Any feedback would be great!
My theory is that a firmware upgrade dropped support for DVI connections.
Thanks
