Just got my boxee box this morning and I'm having a problem with my media library.

I'm able to play files manually via the files section, however when i check [setting >> file sources] it lists the network locations as "disconnected."

My file sever is running windows 7 with sharing set to everyone, so I don't expect a win7 permissions issue.

Any ideas? I would like to get everything scanned to my library.

I've had this issue intermittently as well and it usually ends up resolving itself somehow. One thing that does usually work is restarting the box. I also would recommend doing a factory restore if it persists.

Got this exact same issue but my file server is significantly different from yours.

Debian Etch running Samba 3.2.5

Not sure if it's related or not, but I do remember back in the days of XBMC (on xbox no less) I had to do some tweaking with the parameters regarding what type of password authentication was allowed (lanman, NTLMv2, etc) to get everything working properly. Maybe there should be some docs on the required settings for various popular file servers?

I fixed this issue on windows 7, in energy options you can choose advanced options and remove the powersaving option on the harddrive.

I had this exact behavior, as have a number of others here. For us we needed to enable NetBios over TCP/IP on the Windows 7 machine.
But considering you asked this question a month and half ago, I'll assume you got it fixed ;)
