Will the power adapter take 230v, can I use a USA adapter?

The USA version has a normal 110v two prong wall wort. You'll need a UK converter for it.

I am in the same situation, or at least I will be if I go ahead. I refuse to pay the inflated UK price, but I'm lucky enough that I travel to the US regularly, so I can buy a Boxee Box in the US.
Naturally the US version has a US wall plug, but the real question is whether the US version will work with 240V input as well as 110V input? If so, then I only need a plug adapter. If not, then I need to replace the entire external power supply.
More importantly, is the US version identical in every other way to the UK version?
Please no speculation - I can do that myself - just known facts.
Thanks in advance.

Hi I am in the same boat. I have bought 3 of the boxee boxes from amazon US for my media network. I refuse to pay the UK Rip off price.
I have a stepdown transformer that will work for one but I think it will be easy and cheap enough to buy a replacement uk psu for it for about £5. I will publish my result and where cheapest to buy the psu when I have done it.
Say no to rip off Britain!

Hi
I also ordered the boxee box in the US, but I'll only use it in switzerland.
You only need the appropriate plug adapter, as you can read in the comments of this blog post: http://blog.boxee.tv/2010/10/20/boxee-box-ships-on-nov-10th-rsvp-for-the-launch-event-in-nyc/comment-page-1/#comments
So for me, this thing will do the trick: http://www.konsolenkost.de/images/produkte/i58/5805291.jpg

no need to convert voltage. 110 and 220 works out of the box.

Anybody knows about the AC power adaptor delivered with the box in the US.
Will it also work with the European 220 Voltage Power? In this case you would only need the EU plug adaptor which is available for very little money.

Yes. All you need is EU plug adaptor.

Hi you have to send it to a US address of someone you know and ask them to post it to you!

I wanted to resurrect this thread with a question. Has anyone found a replacement PSU for the Boxee Box that works properly and has the right plug fit?
I have two locations that will get seldom boxee box use, and I would like to simply purchase a 2nd power supply for the other location. I will then just transport the Boxee between the two locations for use. Having the power supply pre-wired will make this a lot easier.
If someone knows of a specific model PSU that will work that is available at a low price, please respond to the thread, thanks!

Can anyone confirm that the tip of the included psu is a 2.1mm positive center tip?

I'm in Hong Kong and ordered one through a friend in US.
We use UK type plug & 220V. The PSU works well with a socket adapter.

So my sister has picked one up for me from America and she arrives back in the uk on Monday with it so I can't wait to use it but I'm still a little confused as to what I need to buy to make it work in the uk I know I don't need to convert the voltage with one of those big adapters and I assume I just need a new uk plug that fits the power supply for the box but I have no idea what kind so could somebody post what I need to buy and I will track one down.
Any help will be much appreciated

The power supply is 110-220V switching, so it should work in the UK as long as you get a simple mains adapter that is commonly available at any electronics store.

The old one died and D-link admits they had a problem. I am assured that the new ones are fine

The pin is really small and most adaptors won't fit. Maybe a universal with changeable pins would work. 12V and 2 amps

The real question is whether the U.S. version and 240V input 110V input? If so, then I just need a plug adapter. If not, then I need to replace the external power supply.
You just need a plug adapter. The power supply lists 100-240V. I bought my Boxee in the US and used it in Germany with a $3 plug adapter without any problems.
