While waiting for the next build of Boxee (with myth connectivity operational I sincerely hope), I tried to use the mythbackend UPNP AV server to play previously recorded content. I can navigate to individual shows without a problem, and I've even managed to get content to play once or twice, but it's largely unstable with the spinner just.... when I try to play TV shows.

Anyone else had any luck reliably playing myth content via the UPNP server that 'ships' with mythtv.

My mythbackend is Mythbuntu 8.10 serving up recorded ATSC content.

I'm on the list of Boxee users who are longing for Myth support as well...
in the meantime, if you can live without live tv, there are some options.

I'm using the mythrename.pl script (part of the stock install of Myth)
mythrename crates symlinks with user friendly names and puts those links in the directory of your choice... for my backend that is: /local/media/Myth/shows

I serve that director via Apple File Sharing (netatalk) and add it as a local source in Boxee (/Volumes/media/Myth/shows .... see the trend?)

Myth does not know the season and episode numbers, so there is no way to index the shows, but it does let you watch them.
