View Full Version : boxee won't load on a fresh install

I just installed the latest ubuntu, and followed the download instructions.

Now when I try and launch boxee, it just kicks me back to the ubuntu login screen. No messages to hint at what might be the issue...

Anyone got any ideas that I could try?

Maybe you could try seeing if an output log was left in /tmp/xbmc.log and open it with a your text editor?

I had the same exact problem. I enabled the restricted drivers for my graphics card, restarted, and it loaded fine after that.

How would I do that? Sorry, I am pretty new to ubuntu.

Well, it fixed the errors involving the graphics card:

@harminoff - please include output from running glxinfo

also, try disabling vsync - edit ~/.boxee/userdata/guisettings.xml search for vsync and set from 2 to 0.

Also, I don't have guisettings.xml I only have advancedsettings.xml keymap.xml lircmap.xml and sources.xml.in.linux

hi there, please try the new version and remove ~/.boxee before you run it.
