Hey all,

I can't seem to get Boxee to run for more than 10-30 seconds. It locks up and eventually crashes, and the crash reporter comes up. I'm new to this, do I need to post an error log? Where would it be located?

Macbook Pro Santa Rosa latest refresh running OSX 10.5.4

EDIT: I've uploaded the log from /var/tmp/xbmc.log

Hi kevleviathan

Thanks for the report ...

Please can you post me (marcel[at]boxee[dot]com a copy of your crash report as this wil give us a better understanding of the problem.

Are you adding any external sources?

How are you music/videos structured on your machine.

next version is coming with a crash reporter, so whenever it crashes you can add a comment and send it our way.

thanks for the report!

can you please try to move your music directory from its usual location? i'm guessing it's an issue with the music indexing.

Cool! I removed all my sources as quick as I could and then went through and added them one at a time, works fine now.

I have another question now... is Boxee going to index my music and sort it intelligently by tags? Currently only ~ 10 albums out of the hundreds that I have show up in the front Music page, the rest I have to browse by folder.

EDIT:
OK so it seems Boxee crashes whenever I add my external drive as a music source. I have a Music, Pictures and Movies folder on my external (USB) and when I add my music collection, Boxee crashes shortly thereafter.

boxee is scanning the tags to sort it out.

you probably have something specific on the usb drive with tags that break boxee. we have made some fixes in this regard in the upcoming version, but if you could narrow it down to which track causes the crash, it would be awesome.

So far I've been unable to locate exactly which file is causing the crash... it's definitely a music file though.
Although it may not exactly be a file, since I added all the files over my network from my PC (all the exact files that were on my external) and it works fine.

Same thing happened to me, I opened the console and saw that boxee crashed on my VOB files, those I ripped from my DVDs and left as-is. Once moved them from the folder, it worked.

please try the version at http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=403 and let me know if it still crashes with your respective music/vob files
