i just put together a quick survey to get your feedback on what content would you like us to bring to boxee.

the survey (http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?key=panMrSP0HDGK3-_AgeNh9Zw)

we will do our best to get the popular choices integrated into boxee as soon as we feasibly can... :)

thanks for helping out!

UPDATE
see results here: http://blog.boxee.tv/2008/11/21/you-told-us-what-you-want-now-we-need-to-make-it-happen/

Great idea, taking a steer from users.

The TV network and movie services in your survey are all USA only, which is disappointing but understandable.

I think you should have a "Don't Care" option for all of them. For instance, I don't really care about photo sharing services.

Just click on "Other" and write in "Don't Care"...

I think you guys should have "Port this thing to Popcorn Hour" on that list!!!!

Also, for music I made a suggestion to a site called Media Master, check it out. www.mediamaster.com, it allows me to upload all my music to the site, create playlists, and share them. This is good because I can then listen to them anywhere on the internet. I can see why you might think its unnecessary, since you can stream all your music to Boxee anyway, but right now your music application is not really usable (too slow and doesn't always work). Anyway, check it out.

Adding Netflix would solve this whole Roku box Vs. Apple TV battle. Friends and families would be reunited, torn lovers would once again hold hands, and I'd spend even more time sitting on my couch in front of the TV eating Trader Joe's brand Oriental Rice Crackers after starting up my Netflix account once more.

Thank you boxee for making my life far more simple.

I think the UK was pretty heavily represented in those results, given how much smaller our population is than that of the States!

abc.com, nbc.com, fox.com, cwtv.com, and then scifi.com

abc.com, nbc.com, fox.com, cwtv.com, and then scifi.com

Are you seeing anything on nbc.com and fox.com which are not on hulu.com?

BBC iPlayer on Boxee would be huge...right now, I find myself connecting my laptop to the VGA port on my plasma...

I see posts that iPlayer *used* to work on a previous release of Boxee?

Also, how about the other UK TV channels - ITV.com, channel4.com?

I don’t think we’ll get ITV Catchup or 4 on Demand, because they’re both using Microsoft Silverlight. 4oD doesn’t even work on Macs at all yet.

It would be great to incorporate a podcatcher right in boxee rather than having to go to the website. Also really want to be able to delete something from recently watched if I mistakenly clicked on it.

is this icon meant to be a hysteric laughing man? it's great.

Absolutely! The big two in my book are Netflix and Hulu. Since the work on Hulu has started, Netflix needs to be next.

iPlayer (BBC) would be great as well. Particularly if there's a way to let people outside the UK at that content! :)

lala and smugmug were overlooked, but I know smug can do RSS so I'll take a look at setting that up. lala.com is great, but just seems to be gaining traction as of late so I'm not surprised the adoption is small still.

I guess its a problem mostly related to me bieng in a stupid little cuntry with a small marked for web on demand media rental/public viewing.

I looked threw most of the TV network's in the survey, and it seems that most of them are regional serviced that are only accesible inside the US.

So i was thinking (correct me if im wrong - I havnt used Boxee yet so it might already work like this), but wouldnt it be more helpfull to the general Boxee comunity if you worked on a feature to dynamically add new networks to the Boxee interface - rather then hardcoding them into boxee.
That way you get the benefit of only adding what you actually have access to and you wouldnt have to do a new release of Boxee to add additional networks to the interface.

If there was a guide or framework to using this kind of feature you might just be able to keep it running as a seperate project side by side with the Boxee main interface threw user updated content.

Hope you can use the feedback.

Regards
Christian

That would be sweet. Amazon should be supporting you with this. Isnt there an official SDK for the amazon store?

I'm really surprised that The CW had so little votes, this is the channel I want the most, since none of the shows are available on Hulu :(

why not promote CW at http://getsatisfaction.com/boxee/ the more votes the more likely to happen..

Or suggest it as a BoxeeHQ plug-in. See http://boxeehq.com/2009/02/pbs-anyone/ for their announcement of a PBS plug-in coming soon.

@Goodlife: Vote for more Canadian content at getsatisfaction: http://getsatisfaction.com/boxee/topics/add_more_canadian_content . Team Boxee is using this to prioritize the roll out of features... makes sense!

@VideoMilk: Patience pays off... the skin you are calling "ugly" works just fine but one can only imagine that more will be on the way... here is a lead that may be of interest to you: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=5285&highlight=blue+skin

Peace,

I think that's what Beta is for.

I think that is exactly what Beta is not. Sure adding new plugins attracts more (external) attention.

really how many Boxee users do actually use the Boxee concept i.e. added friends?
The 'recently added' and 'recently used' are partly broke and needs a coffee break to refresh on mine and other Boxee aTV users.

Beside that or better yet, due to the lack of performance and bugs, i switch to the XBMC when i want to watch a DVD.
Sad but true...

Whether you like it or not is a little moot. Boxee's niche and target is the sharing features. The alpha level is where they shape their program (adding features/determining what direction they want the software to go in), beta testing is where the fine kinks are worked out. I also use XBMC for some stuff, but remember, XBMC was just as jankey when it first started. You probably would have been disappointed with that in alpha too...now look, you're using it as the 'good' comparison.
