Update (10th Nov 2010): New version coming this weekend!
ORIGINAL POST BELOW (For reference, information not relevant for latest version)
OK so I have been all over the forums trying to find a way to control my Boxee from another PC primarily, but also from any device with a web browser.
After some research, I found an iPhone web interface which when placed into the Boxee, can be accessed by any device with a web browser. I may look into editing it so it looks better on a large PC screen but for now its much better to use than the extremely simple 'web remote 0.4 (http://code.google.com/p/boxee-web-remote/)' Having said that, the basic interface of web remote 0.4 is useful as this interface doesn't seem to have much in the way of controls, more of a browser and player of your files. It doesn't have pause/play, etc as far as I can see.
To install:
Download this iphone web interface that I found after reading this post (http://forums.boxee.tv/showpost.php?p=9923&postcount=7): DOWNLOAD (http://www.buddydog.org/iphone.zip)
Unzip the iPhone folder into your Boxee directory 'web' folder. For example, for windows, you would unzip it into 'C:\Program Files\Boxee\Web'
Now simply launch your device/PC with a web browser and navigate to:
http://BOXEE_IP:8800/iphone
Where BOXEE_IP is the IP address of your Boxee (E.g. http://192.169.1.103:8800/iphone)
I only take credit for my instructions and discovering how to do this. I am not a coder, just a persistent fiddler!

Hi Iggy82, Welcome to the Boxee forums! :)
Thanks for bringing up this remote and offering the instructions here.
This remote has been mentioned in the user guide for awhile now. I use it on my all my PC's and when Boxee is playing on one, I can control it from another. Don't have an iPhone or the like but I would guess it provides a simple interface with all the function you need to control Boxee(if you can see the screen). As far a pause/play goes, just open(select) the OSD display and use it to control Boxee. The 'remote' offers shortcut keys as well (I,J,K,L, space, B for back, P for pause, 0-+ for volume, <> for RW/FF), which is not going to help on an iPhone.
I never included the instructions in the User Guide because the author has instructions on the website included in the link from the user guide (http://code.google.com/p/boxee-web-remote/). ;)

WOW... did I mis-read your post or what. :o
I just downloaded the one from your link and am very impress. Sorry about the misread. Thank you very much for this find !! It works GREAT!
Do you mind if I use your instructions in the User Guide? I would like to add it to the guide.

Awesome, I was beginning to think I was the only one with those needs. :)
I have a feature request here on a web interface:
http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=20980
I'm going to keep this thread though, as I think there's room for lots of improvement even with the iPhone app (cover art, Boxee sorting rather than file sorting, etc).
But still, this is great! It'll definitely get me started using Boxee the way I want to.
Thanks!
- Jonas
EDIT:
A slightly annoying thing is that playing the first item in a CD will not play the whole CD, like Boxee normally does.
However, you can add an album to the playlist.
Did I just say "playlist" and "Boxee" in the same sentence?! Yup, this interface provides Boxee with a working music playlist...

OK so been playing around in my spare time, which isn't a lot this weekend unfortunately. Please delete the "iphone" folder from your Boxee 'web' folder if you have already tried this out. Otherwise, just download and unzip the 'remote' folder from the ZIP into your Boxee 'web' folder:
Download Boxee Web Remote 0.1 BETA (http://iggy82.yolasite.com/)
Changelog:
V0.1 BETA - Boxee Web Remote
-Added Boxee UI images
-Removed 'Scripts' and replaced with 'Controls' for old Boxee web remote
-User must access remote via http://BOXEE_IP:8800/remote
Where BOXEE_IP is the IP address of your Boxee (E.g. http://192.169.1.103:8800/remote)
(Web server must be enabled in Boxee settings)
Test Conditions
Tested using a notebook runnings Windows 7 with Google Chrome. Works fine with a few errors that pop up but don't actually cause any issues. Didn't work when trying to access from my Nexus One running Cyanogenmod 6.0.0. However, 'XBMC / Boxee Remote' by Chandan Pitta app is excellent for full Boxee control on Android. I would also recommend 'Wol Wake on Lan Wan' by Brobble for waking up your boxee with your android phone. Hopefully try and integrate a WOL client somehow into this remote, in meantime, I recommend visiting http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/welcome.aspx

Is this project dead? The site is down. Thank goodness for google cache. Has anyone played with this on the Boxee Box? I managed to get it uploaded to mine and I can access it from the web but none of the buttons work. I haven't gotten into the boxee box enough to know where it stores media and if any of the xbmc functions work the same. If anyone has any experience with this it would be a great help.
I have an old xbox with xbmc in one room of my house and have loved being able to load music and movies from my laptop and phone. I would really like to buy a few boxee boxes and be able to control music and video playback through out the whole house from an ipad.
This web interface thing is a big deal for me. I hope I can get it working I am so close.

No project is still up, so are both the project pages and the google code. Perhaps the servers were down temporarily. You can see the project page here:
http://iggy82.yolasite.com/
And you can download from Google Code Project hosting here:
https://code.google.com/p/boxeewebremote/
I haven't done any work on it for a while because it's running very well for most users who follow the installation instructions properly. Also, I haven't received a single donation for the work so hasn't really motivated me to do anything!

Iggy,
This could control a Boxee PC from any other web browser device?
I have an old Blackberry 8310 (no wifi) that runs Opera Mini. Could I control my Boxee on my laptop thru that?

Sorry to say I'm closing this project unless Boxee decided they want to re-invest in the free version. I've moved to XBMC since Boxee haven't updated the project since October last year.
It appears they are investing all their time into the D-Link Boxee box. I've always carried out this project for free, donations are always welcome but I've never had a single one! Therefore, since Boxee appear to have forgotten about us, I'm moving over to where all the free good stuff is still happening! XBMC! (http://xbmc.org/download/)
There is an excellent new web control available for XBMC with the new JSON-RPC interface being used, it's only on its second iteration but it's looking a lot more stable and secure compared to the HTTP API I used in this project. For details of installation, see my post on the project forum page (http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=801395&postcount=201) as instructions are a bit bad due to project being in early stage.
