Boxee and Ubuntu look great on my LCD Monitor, but once I hook it up to my Sony Wega the graphics dont look as crisp and its painful to look at. I have it connected thru s-video and everything is working and I am using boxee, but it doesnt look as clear as it does on my LCD.

My guess is there is something that I have to do with the NVIDIA driver, but I have never had much luck configuring my xorg.conf let alone do it for a TV.

Anyone else have this problem where the text and graphics look too vivid. I tried changing the settings on my TV, but its still not as crisp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

well, if you're using s-video, I assume your wega isn't an hdtv. if it is, and i am mistaken, you should be connecting via dvi/hdmi.

if it is an old-school crt/analog television (i have one too and am using boxee over s-video), then yes, it will look very saturated and blurrier than your lcd screen. this is just the nature of the beast.

think about it like this:

hdtv resolutions are 1080p (1920x1080), 1080i (1920x540 interlaced), and 720p (1280x720). progressive scan dvd players (not upscaling) output at 480p (i think 640x480 or 720x480). meanwhile, an analog television signal is more like 480i (640 or 720 x 240 interlaced).

so you can imagine why things are fuzzy/blurry, and text is hard to read. compare 640x240 interlaced to whatever resolution your lcd monitor is...

Correct, its not HDTV and bummer that I cant improve that.
Thanks for the info.
