I'm capable of compiling from source, but is there any chance that Boxee will release a Fedora RPM in addition to its Ubuntu offerings? It would make my life easier
Or once you are out of Alpha into Beta, working with a third-party repository for this?

I'm also trying to build Boxee from the sources on Fedora 9. I built it (but with some troubles). But I cannot run it. I attached log file. So, if you have some idea why it isn't started, please, let me know.
TIA

Check my series of postings on getting it to run on openSUSE. I think I may have given up on the idea, as I just reboot into Ubuntu to get it to work. Here's the latest one with links to earlier ones:

The most important thing to note is the the files in flashplayer found in the source tarball are old. I include a link to the newer ones.
You also have to get it installed correctly. "make install" (and for that matter the readme) are all about XBMC and don't have anything to do with getting Boxee installed.

I spent three hours trying to get this to compile from source. I made patches, I even took apart an XBMC RPM someone produced to check their install script for patches.
It failed on problems with FileCurl. So, I will wait for someone to solve that problem. In the meantime, I'll go with plan B to experiment with Boxee. An Ubuntu Live CD/DVD.
It occurs to me someone, someday, when this comes out of private alpha into public beta or public release could package this as a bootable LiveCD/LiveUSB/PXE Image, using the Mythbuntu model...It would make a great diskless frontend for a system where all the media is Network attached.

Does this solve your FileCurl problems?

I contacted boxee support and they assured me that when new version of Boxee comes out that it will be fully licenced under GPL and that it would have better support for other distros.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully. They have watched a bunch of us note the issues. They could easily rewrite the code to compile without error on a variety of distributions using patch suggestions people here have noted at the least. Perhaps adding in 64-bit support will come as well.
