View Full Version : Audio Lost on Playback

Hello,
I have been running Boxee on my Mac Mini without a hitch. Recently however, the audio is going away on playback of any type of media. Have tested with:
Netflix, Current, Pandora, even local video and audio files. The sound is there on boot up AND on navigation, but drops as soon as I start to play back any type of media. After that, I need to restart boxee to get my audio back. This process repeats without fail.
Issue occured before updating to the latest version and continues now after having updated (I had high hopes for it fixing the issue, but no).
Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a solution? Things were going fine for over a year so it's frustrating.
System Info:
Mac Mini
1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1 GB RAM
Max OS X (10.5.8)
Video running through HDMI
Audio though optical out
Thanks,
-Jeff

I am. I came here to see if I am the only one. I can't get audio beyond navigation. The blips and bloops are there but as soon as I hit play it is gone. This only showed itself after I upgraded to the latest version. Sadly I have been forced to return to Sapphire in Front Row in the mean time.
Mac Mini Summer 2010 is what I run it on.

Well, at least I'm not the only one. This is strange.

These is really one of the great information which you can share with us. The sound is there on boot up AND on navigation, but drops as soon as I start to play back any type of media. After that, I need to restart boxee to get my audio back. This process repeats without fail.

same here, osx 10.6.3. previous version of boxee works fine; latest beta released the other day has no audio when playing any kind of media file. the UI sounds are there right after starting boxee but they go away after i try to play a video.
i fiddled around with the audio settings to no avail. the computer is attached to my receiver with an SPDIF optical cable.
reverted to old version...

I no longer have audio either. 10.6.4 with the latest version of boxee AND not using the SPDIF digital audio. It just seems to have went away. They play back fine otherwise via VLC outside of Boxee.

I'm glad it's not just me. I, too, get the sounds in the UI but nothing on playback on video and audio that work in other applications.
Model Name: Mac mini aluminum

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz

Total Number Of Cores: 2

Boxee version 0.9.22.13692
Restarting Boxee (and the Mac) doesn't help. I blew away the config and got sound back. For a time (disappeared again when changing video file for testing, was not changing settings).

I am having the same issue. I have tried contacting Boxee support but they are not responding. If I can't figure it out soon I will have to switch to something else. Anyone have any experience with other products?

I'm now using XBMC, which works just nicely. Its UI isn't anywhere near as nice as Boxee's, but at least I have audio!

Quoting myself here, because I cannot believe that no one is out there that could fix this problem.
I do have NO AUDIO with Boxee on my MacMini but I do have Interface Audio within Boxee (so I can here the clicks on buttons etc.)
AUDIO is working in all other apps on this machine, just NOT in Boxee.
This did happen with some kind of update of Boxee or the system - I donīt know.
Current system is 10.6.5 and most current Boxee
