I have all of my "hand braked"ed movies going to a folder on my time machine external hard drive. I can't get Boxee to see this folder despite making it shared on my Mac desktop. I have checked the SMB tab and still nothing. I am a computer illiterate so please keep advice very simple. Thanks.

Can you see the device (your time machine HDD) from within Boxee at all?

Hi there,
I think I had this exact same issue with my NAS and the Mac running Boxee, I've just installed it today. I can see the NAS, the files work in Finder and also in Boxee if I just start exploring and see the files. I can also play the files in Plex on the same Mac. However, when I add a media source using smb:// in Boxee, it sits on "Waiting to scan" for a minute, then reverts to "Disconnected".
To get around this, I mounted the directories (Using "Connect To Server" in Finder's Go menu) which makes it appear in /Volumes. I then pointed Boxee to the relevant place (ie /Volumes/video in my case) and it all worked fine.
SMB support seems broken right now, but this workaround should work for Boxee on OS X. Hope this helps!
