I ask this already in different threats so i am gonna start a new 1
so itś more organized and easier to find.
also i am gonna quote the response from tsella that were relevant and mentioned in other threads
the first question i ask about this problem was this?

Will this mean older graphic cards than ati x1600 mobile never be supported?
Or are you working on this?
i have a ati 9800 xt graphic card.
i can't go passed the begin screen :whats is new
and change the country,city location.

it this hardware related?

Also what will be in general hardware minimum spec?

TSELLA
hi,

actually, the x1600 is what we tested with, not the minimum.

the 9600XT has opengl 2.0 (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparison_of_ATI_graphics_process ing_units&section=15#Radeon_R300_.289xxx.2C_X10xx.29_series) support, is a decent card, and i think it should work.

please try running xbmc ppas, and see if those run with the the 9600XT - http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?p=185738

i did this when i played a movie i had a problem that the i couldn't see the video .
it turned green.
actually i don't have a 9600 card but a 9800 xt card

in other thread same question i got this answer from tsella

i haven't tried (i actually have a 9600xt at home, will repurpose the machine as soon as i get a storage solution), but the i think these cards should work well with boxee. they may be affected by the specific issue mentioned here (http://forum.boxee.tv/showpost.php?p=383&postcount=3), so you can try to apply the patch and see if it does resolve.

how you apply the patch?.which patch do you mean?

hi,

the 9800xt and 9600xt are pretty close, and are based on the same RV360 gpu core - that's why i mentioned the 9600 in response to your 9800 query. if one works, the other should too.
guess i should have made that clearer.

i have linked to the ati issue and code patch located at http://forum.boxee.tv/showpost.php?p=383&postcount=3. applying the patch requires you compile boxee from source, or you can wait to the next version, coming in a few days, which should fix this.

now that you made reference to both posts, i guess you are able to start boxee, so what the patch resolves is not what your problem is.

can you please explain in greater detail the issue? does boxee freeze? crashes? what do you mean by unable to go past the begin screen (login?) or what's new (a different screen).

please include the text from your /tmp/xbmc.log, which may shed a bit more light on the issue.

thanks!

applying the patch requires you compile boxee from source.how do you do that? i am new with linux
so i don't know what you mean with that.i know there is a zip file in the link but i don't know what to do with this.i guess itīs easier for me to wait for the next version
