Hi I was wondering if anyone was thinking about doing a vpn app for boxe box because there are thousands of people that use vpn to watch video from other countries but most current apps require you use a pc/mac/linux. Im sure there is a extremely talented developer that could make an app perhaps something like pick pptp then enter the server ip/url and the password. that is all most people would need. Something like the way iphones, ipads, and other ios devices use vpn. Its simple yet functional.

Not quote sure what you'e after, here. What, exactly, do you want to do with it?

You can set up your own VPN through the OS, configure it with an http proxy, and just point Boxee at that in the "Network" settings.

I don't know. Not a Mac guy. I mean, I could probably get it done, but whatever I suggest probably wouldn't be optimal.

Might be a good idea to put this to the Mac help forum.

To do this on a Mac (theoretically):

Open System Preferences > Network Preferences.
Click the '+' sign under the left-hand pane.
Configure your PPTP VPN as your normally would.
Click Advanced button, lower right.
Click 'VPN on Demand' add the domains you want to be routed through the VPN, likely hulu.com, etc.
Click Okay
Click Apply.
Close System Preferences.

Let me know if you have any difficulty with this, as I have not tested it on my own.

Unfortunatly VPN on Demand on OSX does not work... Would be good if a setting can be added on boxee for easy on/off a vpn...

The boxee box (as per the demo unit i have) supports vpn under settings > network > vpn , and it supports pptp. I tried it with strongvpn account and works great.

couple of AppleScripts that can be run outside boxee solved my problem... (see http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?p=115669#post115669)
