ok every time i start boxee it just logs me out and sends me to the gdm login screen oh btw im running hardy in vmware

hi DARKreaction.
please post the output of /tmp/xbmc.log (run terminal or Application > Accessories > Text Editor, and open /tmp/xbmc.log).
also, please try running boxee from command line, as it might give more insights into the problem.
open terminal and run /usr/boxee/run-boxee-desktop.
can you please tell me about your hardware?

yep.. experienced the same thing under this config. boxee is not really supposed to be run in virtualization, at least not until virtualization is able to enable what gfx cards are able to these days.
i was able to running under hardy under mac osx virtualbox, so you may want to try that (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads), but even if boxee runs, you wont be able to run video with it in this mode (unless you find <5fps usable).

ya i just decided to install linux to my hdd and run it that way i liked vmware but it had many problems when it came to graphic intensive things so i finally got boxee running i have a laptop with a Mobile Intel GL960 Express graphic card if that is of interest to anyone i have so small issues but there because my xorg is messed up
