Grrrrr, auto-logout on this site just cost me an hour of typing. Let's see if I can remember everything.
I am using the latest version of Boxee for AppleTV. I am very impressed with the concept thus far and look forward to helping with its development. Here are my bugs thus far:
1. General crashes - I get a failed with error code 4 frequently when leaving Boxee sitting for a while.
2. Download crash - a download on the updater page will fail every time the AppleTV screen saver comes on. As soon as I stop the screen saver, and restart the download, it will complete.
3. Adding Source - I added my Popcorn Hour as an SMB share source. When I added it, it said "connected," but refused to show many any of the contents of the drive. Eventually I figured out that I needed to go under system setting to establish default SMB credentials. I think when adding a source that requires credentials, it should prompt. Further, I think that each source should be able to have its own credentials (username/password).
4. Recently Added movies - After connecting my Popcorn Hour, I started to see recently added movies in that row on the home page, however, about as quick as I did, they would disappear. I don't think they stay up long enough.
5. Recently added movies - I think for a lot of people there will be an initial surge of movies added followed by periods of time with no additions. Because of this, this row should collapse instead of being deadspace on the home page. That or it could switch to showing a random assortment of movies.
6. No movies under video - Despite seeing "recently added" movies, when I go under videos, none of my ISO formatted movies show up. I can access them by going under Videos>Sources>Popcorn Hour>Movies, but they will not show up on the videos home screen.
7. Artwork update - When I update misapplied movie information, it will update the information (actors, etc) but will not update the artwork.
8. Chapter skip - Since ISO formatted movies have chapter information, the proper remote operation should be short-click = chapter skip, and sustained button hold = fast forward and rewind scan. As is, a short click nets me some arbitrary amount of time skipped and holding it down leads to very choppy fast forward and rewind.
9. Monitor settings - I don't understand why my 16:9 plasma shows up as a 1280x1024 (Fullscreen). This is a misnomer and should be widescreen (it should be able to read and match the AppleTV's current settings)
10. Keyboard - the keyboard has terrible lag and is very hard to use. Sometimes pressing the down direction will not move the keyboard cursor down to the keyboard area.
11. Sound check - sometimes the input noise (like when pressing OK) will randomly get louder, then the next click will be back to normal volume.
12. Subtitles - On the few movies I have tried, sometimes they will start with subtitles activated despite my not wanting subtitles.
13. Subtitle menu - When I tried to turn off subtitles after noticing they were on when they weren't supposed to, the subtitle menu (while a movie was playing) crashed Boxee.
14. Updater - It would be great if the updater would check your current version of things and not report the same version as an update available.
15. XBMC - This seems like an entirely separate application so I don't understand why it shows up in the updater for Boxee.
Looking forward to watching this product mature. I think its an awesome concept even at alpha stage.
